Learning

Things have been quiet here on the pint-sized permies front. Rain has curtailed most outdoor activities and what the rain hasn’t stopped, the bitter cold has (ok bitter cold in Australia πŸ˜‰ ).

We are however continuing to learn, this time about our new goat Anna.

And hopefully soon the garden will be dry enough that we can go and get very muddy helping Mum dig out the pond again.Β The good news is that we all have gumboots (galoshes/wellies) and rain means lots of muddy puddles. What a pity Mum won’t let us jump in them all! πŸ˜‰

Mmmmmuddy puddles!

  1. Bitter Cold . . . hahahahaha . . . (sorry, I do remember whinging about it myself; that was before I moved here! πŸ˜‰

As to the mud by the waterer, in your spare time (quit laughing; I can hear you, too, you know!), if you dig out a fair-sized rectangle and fill it with a few medium sized rocks to below the ground level, then top off with gravel, you can put a big tile or a piece of wood in the middle for the chooks to stand on; the excess water will drain away. ~ Linne

    • It’s ok. You can laugh at my whinging about the cold. I’ll laugh when you whinge about the heat. πŸ˜‰

We’re planning to get some mulched wood etc to scatter in their pen. It will degrade and gain nitrogen and then its good in compost or garden. πŸ™‚
