Home schooling maths

Just an ultra-short post to show a tactile maths lesson with Jas. The idea came from my dear friend CL. Thanks for the idea!

Laminated numbers and pegs with sums on them.

Laminated numbers and pegs with sums on them.

The pegs have an addition or subtraction sum on each side of them. The numbers are from 1-30. There is a sum for each number although it doesn’t always work out that way. There is more than 1 sum for each number but if you use the sum on the opposite side you may end up with spares at the end.

Jas takes a peg, works out the answer then finds the corresponding number and clips the peg onto it. Easy peasy and no trying to focus on pen and paper. 🙂

It also took all of 15 minutes to make and even using all new materials it would cost precious little. 🙂
